    Guy,
Thank you for running the numbers, Your terminology confuses me through. Could you show a free body diagram?

Not a diagram, but better. Note the "cross member" connects the two upper forward landing gear/cabane attach points, transmitting athwartships loads. Note also I'm only dealing with the forward, planar tubes. The aft tubes are ignored in my analysis.

Hi guys. Can grove gear be straightened if it's been bent due to hard landing or a ground loop or will it need to be replaced? Say for instance if it's one leg been bent 25-30 degrees. Reason I am asking is my friend owns zenith 701 and he bounced it on a maiden flight. He took it somewhere and guy straightened it for him but told him it can only be bent 2 or 3 times before it would develop a crack. Granted its not a grove gear he was working with. Just curious here.

My understanding is that yes, it can be straightened, but Grove can only do it if there is no twist in the bend. I would guess that their equipment is only designed to make straight bends... no twisting. I would also guess that the number of times it can be straightened, or if it should be straightened at all, would depend on how severe the bend is.

Depends on how you're doing the bending/unbending and what material was used in the gear. Grove anneals the gear, straightens it, then re-heat-treats it. Done that way you may be able to bend and unbend quite often.
