I'm coming up on 1,000 hours. Where are you 912ULS folks having gearbox inspections performed? I kinda hate to tear it apart because I've had zero issues. (If it ain't broke, don't fix it logic.) Incidentally, the Bings have never been overhauled for the same reason, but converting to EFI soon!

I meant, are you converting to EFI with an aftermarket system or something you are adapting from cars or what?

Floog, I suspect you and Scott are doing the same thing? Have you ordered yours yet?

We did Jim. Edgeperformance EFI Kit from Badasspowersports dot com. Still waiting on delivery. I'll post an update when we install.

Great! I think many of us will be interested to follow your install process and then flight results.

I had my gearbox inspected & shimmed at Calif Power System (CPS). A gearbox inspection is just that, they are verifying there isn't excess play, normally they open it up, check for wear & tear, measure the play, and shim if required. I had mine in for work and I opted to have it checked. They didn't need to res him, just put it back together. In fact I had them do quite a lot of work on my engine, carb rebuild, Sprag clutch, starter, and soft start modules. It runs better than the day I bought the plane. Call and ask for Bryan Toepfer!

I wish I could go with the EFI from Edge Performance, it would take having to re register my plane from SLSA to an ELSA to make the change, but that could happen, I've talked with Mel Asbury, he said to fly it up and we could get it done.

Thanks, Paul! I appreciate the info and contact. Sounds like CPS did a great job for you.

Now I do agree they will probably find nothing wrong with your gearbox.
