    Default Glare

I am about to choose the color of the powder coating, looking for advise as to glare from white or black in the wind screen. I am leaning to a darker color as not to show dirt and grime as much as white.

Jim- I have white. If I were to do it again it would be black.
Lots of reflections with the white when videoing from the cockpit or shooting photos. More importantly, much less reflections when looking for those almost invisible bogies coming at you at a 250mph or more closing speed . We need every advantage we can get.

Only thing I would say is white makes inspection of the tubes easier. Why not just paint the tubes in the cockpit black and have the rest white?
I would be interested to now others experience on the colour and reflections?

My project plane is powder coated the most god-awful baby blue you could ever imagine. That's changing to a much more agreeable medium grey.

One thing that I have found is that once powder coated, inspection is nearly a moot point. The powder coating hides cracks and corrosion very, very effectively. I have seen it several times on my project.

In short, don't choose a color to aid inspection. To inspect you have to remove the coating to see the crack or problem tube anyway.

Here's a short video shot Thursday on my way to Copperstate fly in. I was testing my GoPro black edition with a neutral density filter system installed to negate the propeller induced strobic effect. It worked very well as you can see but the reflections from white powder coated tubing and my yellow instrument panel messes with the quality.

Could you scuff up the white with a scotch brite to take down the glare?

    Steve,
Very nice. Clear video and having the radio recorded is a very nice touch. How do you record the radio?

EDITED due to my poor taste in verbiage.

I don't especially enjoy the racism that pops out at times here. Guess you're looking for a laugh.
