    Default Cowl/Boot Cowl

Does anybody know the materials these are made of? I need to repair some cracks in the model 2 I bought. Thanks!

    Larry,
The old addage is that Polyester sticks to Polyester, and Epoxy sticks to anything. I have always used Epoxy for repairs and modifications.

Isn't it a thermoplastic? Just wondered.

    Thanks,

    Larry,
Check the inside surface. If you see a fabric weave through the resin, it is one of the iterations of fiberglass. From the smell when you cut or grind it, you can tell what it is. My current Model IV needed some significant modifications to the ring cowl to fit the new engine mount. As mentioned, I used epoxy resin.

    Hello

The cowl of my KF 3 was repaired with polyester and some red resin
I have all removed it with a heat gun because it didn"t stick very well.
Now I have repaired it all with epoxy and that sticks very good.
I had to make my cowl 4 cm longer to get my Rotax 912 nice under the cowl

Ended up repairing my boot cowl with pop rivets with large head & backup washers - seems to be working fine!
