What size and what material can I use for the protective tubing? Can i just source something at a local hardware store?

Mine are bare. I can see everything from the swedge to the rudder. Lighter too, by nearly 2 ounces

For what it's worth, in my 6 it's 5/16 nylaflow tubing.

Have a IV and Nylaflow came with the kit as the rudder cable tubing. When helping with the Lancair build, the rudder cable tubing was embedded under a fiberglass strip along the inside of each side of the carbon fiber fuselage from just forward of the door, to the point it would exit the fuselage. I did the same on my second IV thinking it would keep the exposed cable from inadvertently rubbing on anything - over-stuffed baggage sack - or grabbing and sucking something into the tubing that might inhibit movement. Between the attachment points it is free floating, but still protective of the cables. Oz? To be sure, but these ounces were deemed permissible
