    Hi guys
I just returned from a quick trip to Whitehorse Yukon from Penticton. On June 6 i flew up the Trench with fuel stops at Quesnel MacKenzie and Watson lake .908 nm 11.2 hours head wind all the way.
Returned yesterday down through Atlin with fuel stops at Dease lake and Vanderhoof. 883 nm 10.9 hours air time. Cross wind most of the way.
Averaged 16 liters fuel per hour at about 5200 RPM and 80 knots ground speed.
Kitfox Vixen 912 UL IVO IFA Ultralight prop 570 hours since new 1999.
Absolutely beautiful country we live in.
I would recommend this trip to anyone.
I did not go on to Dawson City due to time constraints.
I tried out the Android navigation program called Avare and even though the Canadian VNC are not available it did work very well. Of course maps were along as well!
I have a few phone pics but they do not do justice to the views.
    Cheers
    Don

    Hello Don
Nice to see someone using Avare. Not trying to steal the thread, perhaps you could start one with a pirep of your impression of Avare. I am familiar with it but not used it in flight as I am not yet ticketed.
    Thanks

    Hi guys
Not sure how to post phone pics because the file size seems too large. This pic is FOXK parked in Whitehorse size 98.2 KB.
Atlin lake. Alaska panhandle on horizon.
Will try some more if this works.
    Cheers

    A few more.
The first pic is north bound through the "trench ".The small depression in the horizon is straight through to Watson lake Yukon. Watson is were I learned to fly 52 years ago!!!
    Forest fire near Lower Post.
    Hundreds of lakes.
Stormy weather on both sides but clear flying down from Dease Lake through to Penticton.
    Great trip.

Don Great Pictures of the trip. A friend from Phoenix is arriving tomorrow with his Carbon Cub. We plan on doing some Flying maybe to Ram Falls and the Clearwater Strip. Another friend in his Savage Cub will be along and because my Fox is not ready I will just be flying my Buzzard. If you did a flight over the Rocks to join us you could show him what real performance is like with your FoxK. I should not complain about flying the Buzzard. I am sure there are many that would be happy to get in the air.
    Nice shots

    Hi Ross
it is a porkupine. Defence is to turn it's back and ruffle up the quills. What ever attacks get a face full and they are barbed,so they don't come out.
    Very hard on dogs.
See,you folks down under don't have ALL the strange critters.
    Cheers
    Don
