    Default Folding bike?

Hi list, I'm thinking it would be nice to have some sort of a folding bicycle to take along during my adventures. Do any of you use one? There are a million different brands and I'm not sure what, if any, will fit in the baggage sack .

    Thanks,

I looked into it once, but then decided a Go-ped would be lighter and more compact -- not to mention, no pedaling involved! I never did actually buy one, though, so I can't report on how practical they actually are.

I have two Dahon bikes that fit in my 7, they are 20lbs each with 20" wheels. I can fit one in just folding it, both requires removing the wheels. I am a fairly avid cyclist and find these bikes to be quite nice for just getting around. I think the model is the Mu SL.

Hi James, I kind of gave up looking. There is simply not enough room in my model IV for an "affordable" bike. I think the 7 has quite a bit more room in the baggage area.

This is the bike, folded normaly and with the wheels and seat removed. The extra disaselbly takes an extra minute and seems it should fit in a KFIV if the pax seat is available. I will take some pics of it in the passenger seat of my plane and post when able.

I'm 6'2" 185 lbs, haven't broken a spoke yet but I have less than 100 miles on the bikes. As for riding they are fine and easely adjusted for any rider (my wife is 5' even). I don't think I would want to ride a century on them but for just getting around I like them. I will know more after next seaon as I plan to use them alot more.

I know Arlington (WA), airshow gets upset if you ride a bike around. Don't know about others.

The Bike Fridays might be an $option$.

    www.bikefriday.com

I spend a fair amount of time on bikes and borrowed a friends Bike Friday a couple of years ago. I used it for a couple of weeks while traveling and was very impressed. They are expensive, but designed to provide a more "normal" feel in a compact and reliable package.

Overall, probably a nice high end option for someone that wants the reliability and comfort to cover some miles.

I've also heard good things about the Dahon bikes.
