    Default The perfect Kitfox

An idea from some of the rambling half-jokes in another thread.

What would you like to see in your perfect Kitfox? Here's my list to start it off:

    1. Tandem Seating with the interior room of a Champ
    2. Bigger tail surfaces for better low speed control
    3. Option for 1500+ Gross capability or 1320 LS compliance
    4. Engine option capability - Continental, Lycoming, Rotec, Rotax

    What else?

    My perfect Kitfox?

    1) A standard SS 7, with a glass cockpit a' la' some of the newer builds we've all seen on this site.

    2) A Rotax 912S that costs no more than it SHOULD cost = about $5,000. Would love to see Yamaha or Kawasaki take the plunge... (dream music playing in the background).

PS: I'd like to give Rotax's management team a spanking... imagine how many more people (and more airplane sales) would jump into the Homebuilt/LSA pool if the engine and avionics were priced with the same margin in mind as say the Kitfox/RV/Sonex airframe manufacturers = old dead "Certified" airframes with 10 gals/hour performance would be go to the smelter... airports would come back to life and the GA industry would rebound and grow.

I wish the 1,320 lb LSA limit was lifted to 1,550.

That my friends is the perfect airplane for me.

I like tandem except you can't keep all of your junk right there next to you, or your girl for that matter.

My perfect Kitfox would be a 912S powered 650 lb. Model 7 tail dragger on tall Cub like gear and Alaskan BushWheels. A bigger horizontal wouldn't hurt either.

Since it's a "dream" list, Garmin G900x compatibility, no matter how silly it would actually be to have such on a Kitfox

I know I have no one to blame but my self, but for me the perfect Kitfox would be for this one to be finished, not sitting in the garage more or less untouched for the last 3 months. I finished painting the fabric and have been to busy with other things to do much on it since. I suppose if I didn't have the Avid to fly, I would have a bit more incentive to get into a bigger hurry. Take care, Jim Chuk

Let,s see. We have a 650 lb. tandem seat 7 with Alaskan Bush wheels pulled by a $5000 Rotax. I have fantasies too. My perfect Kitfox would be one of the two in my hangar - the yellow IV, but with 40 hours on the Hobbs!

    Ty,

I am hopeful. My only hesitation is that Feburary only has 28 days. It may be a push because of that. Photo attached.

It looks beautiful. Larry won't like having all of these yellow planes around.
