Default Pitot static source location for Model IV

Where is the best location to install the pitot system static port on the Model IV Kitfox?

I left mine open behind the panel, appears to work fine.

My model 4 is spot on with it behind the panel as Dorsal indicated. Many here do it that way and seems much closer than if put back on the fuselage. Our 4's are not very airtight so seems to work well. I will get a brief jump when I let the door pop open in flight but stabilizes almost immediately.

The manual (static kit) says: 5" above the underside fus and 27" in front of the elevator LE (left zide).
There ought to be problems getting air from the cockpit with doors opening in flight...
