The last time I took a trip out of state, I got stranded in Tallahassee Florida, and had a personal saga trying to get my plane fixed or transported back home. I rented a trailer from a Just Aircraft Highlander Builder, and with the help of Rodney Wren a Kitfox owner in Hugo we got it back to Mesquite.

    Default Autumn in OZ

It had been beautiful weather here over Easter and great flying weather. Love the way our little town of Mt Beauty changes colour in preparation for winter. thought I'd post a few pics. We are heading out to centre in about 10 days for a weeks fun so hope to post some interesting pics then too!

    cheers

At ranger creek near Mt. Rainer about 60 miles south of Seattle. Navigator Beverly enjoyed the day.

It really is beautiful Ross. I've just spent the night here in my beauty and it was worth the long drive just to see the autumn colour around here and Bright (on the other side of the hill). You'd hardly want to leave once airborne, as it's all downhill from here!

I flew down to Reklaw and Fort Parker today. I'm glad I did a low fly buy at Reklaw. About 1/3 way down the grass runway the is a drain or ravine going across the runway. I can't imagine not having done a fly over. I'm positive the has been more than one aircraft damaged landing because of it.

Fort Parker was a short runway, and the approach over the trees when heading south make it even shorter. I flew approaches twice and decided it was safer to abort the landing, so I headed back to Mesquite International.

Hey, Paul, how about sand and/or gravel bars? Do you guys ever tag those? They look pretty interesting.

Foxy Feet is out of commission!!!

I did a little bush flight the other day, and on starting and flying out of the remote strip, the bendix didn't disengage!

I removed the skytec starter, and am not happy to put it back , as the bendix (I am told ) in the sky tec F12 ST1 has been known to disintegrate and wreck the ring gear/Flywheel in the Franklin 4A 235 B31 Motor, demanding a tear down and repair.
So now I am looking at buying the Sky tec F12 ST2, which replaces it and is good for the Franklin, and that costs $ 795.00, which is 11 000.00 of ours (Rands).
This is a heavy burden on this non-sodbusting Farmer from the bush.
That is the value of a whole cow in calf right now!

I will post on the wanted to buy that I need the starter, but the worst is that my brother is flying is Nellie off almost every afternoon in our FANTASTIC Autumn weather!
So, Ross and others, enjoy your weather, and once I am up and running again, I will once more fly to interesting landing spots and report.

    Darn!!
