What a beautiful mountain picture, and a beautiful airplane Dusty!
Also quite an interesting tail registration "number".

We have a simple three letter rego with an optional ZK prefix
KNZ was chosen as this was the nz demonstrater(kitfox New Zealand)
This plane has an interesting history, being flown by dan Denny at the warbirds
Air show 1992 ,then crashed by the nz police force!
This mountain(mt te-Ao-Whekere) is only around 10 nm inland from the coast

    Phoenix to San Diego.

Desertfox 1 and myself loaded up Phil's 7 Super Sport early Friday morning and set out for a weekend of Kitfox flying, cooler temps, boats, great meals and reunions with family and friends.
We took off at 8 am from Chandler,AZ and our first stop was my brother's place on Indian Hills airpark. After a brief leg stretch there we popped up to 6,500' crossed the Sultan Sea and headed for Borrego Valley for a break and refueling. After calling our friend Alan in San Diego for a "Marine layer" status report, we got the all clear for the last short leg into Gillespee Field, Alan's home field. Alan folded the wings on his Vixen and we tucked the Super Sport in the one plane hangar with room to spare. The flight to San Diego was smooth and we had a little tail wind most of the way. Great flight. The Super Sport is such a comfortable cross country machine.

A short drive to Alan's beautiful home on the hill for a light snack before dinner. I resided in the plush 5th wheel trailer out front. Very nice.
After a great dinner on local pizza (fantastic pizza) we sat around on the patio near the pool enjoying the incredible views every direction and talking airplanes, Kitfoxs' of course.

Saturday morning was bright and sunny and 72 degrees. A nice change from Phoenix's 105-115. Off to the marina for brunch first then a boat ride around Mission Bay. Alan took us for a great ride to see all the sites. Enjoyed every second of that excursion. Beautiful harbor and so much activity. We got to see the backside of Sea World.

After our boat ride it was back to Alan's and more aviation talk. Alan prepared dinner of barbeque beef ribs on the grill, sweet corn and a Ceasar's salad. It was incredible. Ate too much.

Sunday morning about 7 am we drove back to the airport and said goodbyes to Alan and took off for Phoenix. No marine layer to deal with as the day dawned bright and sunny. Would love to have stayed longer as those southern California temperatures are easy to adjust to. Climbing to 7,500' we had a post card perfect return flight. No bumps, tail wind of 10 to 15 mph and severe clear skies. We flew non-stop from San Diego to Chandler in 3 hours. Love this aircraft. What a great little trip and much needed. Now, some photos.

Mowed a 250 meter (750 feet for you guys and ladies in America) strip in the bottom of my farm at 3700 feet.

Christened it on Sunday, and was airborne before half way. Full fuel and one up. Temp was + - 17 deg Celsius (Dunno what in F??).

You see a lion walked over my wings??

Very rough but loads of fun! I also put 700x6 tyres on the other day.

Raining now, so in the office for the day..
You all enjoying Oshkosh over there??

    Rooster,
The strip and the plane both look good. The lion tracks are a great idea!
