Glad you got it flying again, Reid! By the way, what sizes are your main tires and your tailwheel?

    Thanks John.
Mains are 7.00 x 6.00 given to me by a Maule driver friend who threw them out for bush wheels, and the tail wheel is a 2.50 x 2.80 (I think it's a standard Maule Tail wheel size?).

I carry a spare tail wheel tyre and tube which I happen to have bought from my local tyre outlet. They cost me the equivalent of your $ 30.59 all told.
    It's even 4 ply.
I haven't had to use it yet, though.
I would like to get hold of 8.50 x 6.00 main tyres in the not too distant future.
I'm told that worn out Cessna 206 Mains are what can fit the bill. I will try and get hold of a couple.

My brother has just dragged a strip on his farm about 5 miles from mine, and we went over yesterday evening to be the first planes to land there.
It's especially a blessing to have one of my brothers to share the passion with....

    Reid,
That looks like so much fun... and I think you are blessed. I hope to visit your country some day.

We attended the aviation day at Skagit Regional Airport (KBVS) at the invitation to bring the A/C on its trailer for an informative display. Nice crowd with lots of interest in the SS7 and the trailer.
    Wore the 2015 and 2017 fly-in shirts.

    Nice invitation.
Happy to see you both enjoying that beautiful Kitfox together.
It was good seeing you both at the factory fly in.
    Thanks for the post.

I had a great flight to the Idaho back country yesterday along with a friend in his Super Cub. We went to a couple very remote strips, Upper Loon and Cabin Creek. We tried to go to another strip, Soldier Bar, but the winds were causing up and down drafts on final approach and we gave it away.

So there we were cruising at 9,500' and noticed some white stuff on the mountains. The OAT was 27 degrees. A few minutes later it was clear that it had just snowed the night before. It was below 40 degrees when we landed at Upper Loon (5,500 MSL) and thankfully there wasn't any snow there. It's too early for winter.

Never the less we had a great day of flying.

Nice to see the smoke is subsiding at least in that area...

Visibility was a little more limited when we were out there.

We did make the Idaho Flying Mecca of Johnson Creek, though...

Looks like a beautiful day, Phil... great pictures!

Larry... the Mangy Fox looks right at home there, and you're right - what a difference! I came down from Montana with my son a few years ago during similar conditions and had to overnight in Greybull, WY because the smoke was so thick and high. I was actually starting to feel sick from it.

Yes, most of the smoke and fires have subsided, which is wonderful. There was still smoke and fire by by Deadwood Reservoir, which was the reason we couldn't land at Garden Valley during the KF flyout.
