Re: Powerfin on a 80 HP 912
The silence is deafening.. I guess no body is running the powerfin? JImChuk
Re: Powerfin on a 80 HP 912
Hi Jim,
I also ran a Powerfin on my 582 for a couple hundred hours. Replaced my GSC as I occasionally would fly through some rain. Prop worked good. Was a bit trickier to dial in the right pitch as it unloaded more on you gained speed but I liked it. Sorry I don't have any experience with one on a 912.

Running one on my 912 w/zipper in a IV Speedster. Works good. Mine I think
Is a little longer though. 72? I noticed also it was easy to overspeed if you
Pitch for recommended take off rpm. Pitched not to overspeed the engine
WOT level flight and went with that.
My take off solo is still very fast! Overall like the prop.
Re: Powerfin on a 80 HP 912
Thanks guys for the replys. xengineguy, were you ever running a different prop with the same engine that you can compare the powerfin to? What HP are you making with the zipper. I'll be going with a mere 80HP. JImChuk
Re: Powerfin on a 80 HP 912
Always had the powerfin, I like the low MOA. Very smooth idle. I’m probably 102 / 104 hp now.
Started out with a 80/hp also. One more thing that may make a difference is your gearbox ratio. The early 80 hp was different than the 100
I beleave. Check your prop bolt pattern also some are different also.
