Super-fill
I have finally begun my build, getting in a few hours from time to time. I was wondering about Super Fill. How much is needed for the whole build.
I am using balsa on the horizontal stab. and elevator and was going to use Super-Fill to smooth and shape.
I see it is available from AS and thought I would order the amount for the whole build. So how much is typically needed?
Thanks

Re: Super-fill
One kit (I think it’s a quart total?) should be enough. I did what you are planning and had enough

Re: Super-fill
Ok, so will one kit be enough to do the lift strut fairings also?

Re: Super-fill
I happened to run out. I used it to smooth the transition of the leading edge to spar as well as firewall forward fiberglass and the ends of the flapperons in addition to what you mentioned. I would just buy some now then if you need it buy some fresh stuff later. It could be a year or two later depending on your build speed.

Re: Super-fill
Personally, I would only buy one kit at a time to ensure it stays fresh. That's more so based on the speed that I build.
BTW, I don't think that it comes with the kit.

Re: Super-fill
My kit did not come with Super Fil. I think the kit relies on mixing flox or micro with Hysol, which isn't a bad filler either. I'm on my second quart of Super Fil, and I'll barely have used much out of it when I'm finished. I still have the strut fairings to do. If you're careful about not over-mixing, then 1 quart will probably get you there. You may need a second, but I wouldn't order two up front. Wait until you need it.

Re: Super-fill
my original product did arrive in my Kit. I have only used about a fifth of my second jars.

Re: Super-fill
None came in my kit either. I eventually ended up buying 2 also, but only used a small quantity of the second one. Like others have said, only buy one at a time. The epoxy tends to separate from the solids, and it needs to be stirred thoroughly.
