You won't regret it Tom. You just saved yourself some grief and jumped in higher on the learning curve.
Really feel for you on your cracked windshield. Is a new one on its way?
As much fuel as I found on the bottom of the fuselage, I am lucky I didn't end up flying a FireFox. When I found the leak, I had finally talked my wife into going flying in my plane, we were getting the plane ready, and the smell of Fuel was overwhelming when we opened the door. We pulled the seat to find a large puddle of Fuel. My wife has refused to fly in the plane ever since.
I see an AL tank in my future (my current one weeps ever so slightly)
Mine went from not leaking to LEAKING!
I'm currently using one in my Mangy Fox rebuild. I will definitely pitch it if it ever shows signs of leaking, but it never did during it's life so far...
Mine leaked a little and it's currently fixed but aluminum is in my future as well.
I purchased an aluminum too Tom a couple of months ago. Ken
Been using aluminum header tanks since 2000.
Never one drop of leaked fuel.
