I'm looking for a small surface mount slip/skid ball, CPS used to carry one (discontinued #4904), aircraft spruce has one but it looks a little 'large'. I'm wanting one that looks small & clean - not one of those HUGE ugly ones.
Anyone seen a source for such a thing? (I want to remove my 2 1/4" mounted one to make room for something else).

Strange, that's IDENTICAL to the one in CPS book called
a "bank indicator". This has me thinking - what the heck is
the real difference? seems like a ball in a tube is going to ALWAYS
be a slip/skid indicator???
go down to the local RV store. They normaly have some small ones that are just about like the ones that CPS had. They make them with a small ball in them and the normal bubble level.

But aren't those cheapo units going to react differently that my
nice 'aviation' ball I use now? I read one guy on Matronics forum
commented that it worked 'backwards'.
Anyone actually used an RV-style level in their planes? Or a better
quality solution out there?
Yes, I have one on mine and it works fine. To be honest, how many people here really pay attention to the skid indicator when your flying lowlevel and yanking and banking anyway. In our planes it is mainly there to meet the requirements, I use my butt to keep the plane straight and level.Quote:

I saw an article in a magazine I think within the past year that showed how to make one. It was surprisingly easy and simple. I have a real good memory it just isn't very long so I have google searched a bunch and can only find a poor copy on a forum site that is the same one I saw in the magazine. The copy of the instructions are in the first post and the next post down someone with eyes better than mine has listed the materials.
