Re: Cleveland wheel options?
I have Grove wheels and their double puck brakes on my flying plane. I couldn't be happier with them and plan to replicate this setup on my project plane.
From my observation they seem to be very similar to the Cleveland wheels and one of their products may be an interchange option for you.
Re: Cleveland wheel options?
The goal is to have a spare set for my 26" air streaks, but new they are ridiculously expensive, so if the groves would work without swapping the brake calipers, that could be an option.
Re: Cleveland wheel options?
Did you find a set of rims to swap out and use the existing cleveland brakes ? If you did what make and part no.
Re: Cleveland wheel options?
Bump for additional input.
Re: Cleveland wheel options?
Old thread but I have the same question.
It looks from my research that the 40-281 might be interchangeable with a 40-60 or 40-60a. https://www.airframesalaska.com/40-6.../abi-40-60.htm
If anyone has the answer I would surely appreciate it.
I just spoke to Grove and was told they only sell wheels as a kit with the brake cylinders.
Re: Cleveland wheel options?
I got a second set of Grove wheels and rotors for my new (to me) Airstreaks.
Makes swapping to the ski wheels easier.
Re: Cleveland wheel options?
I have a set of 40-60 taking up space, I think they are aluminum, you would need the proper brake discs to make them match up with the 40-281 setup. These 40-60 have a weight of 6.31 lbs stamped on them.
I was going to set these 40-60 up for an extra set of tires, then a set of 40-281 came up for sale and I used those.
I paid $700 US for them , I would sell for that plus shipping.
Re: Cleveland wheel options?
Well darn. I should have been more patient and checked back here sooner. I ordered from Alaska Bush Wheels yesterday.
ABW returned my call more quickly than I expected. They checked some specifications and said their 40-60 wheels and brake discs should be interchangeable with the 40-281 so I went ahead and ordered. If you know a reason they will not interchange please let me know.
Thanks for the response.
Re: Cleveland wheel options?
I checked the Cleveland parts list I have and the same brake disc part number is used on the 40-60 and 40-281. You should be good to go.:)
