Very cool idea Lowell, Took my 6 year old grandson to his first airshow this year. Now he wants to be a jet pilot when he grows up. Excellent to get the young ones interested.
Smoke was one of the things we discussed early on, but when he was here, I guess we forgot to work on that. We did think of the model railroad smoke generators, but nothing beyond that. We could measure lift in grams, and vary angle of attack. This time he brought hot wire cut airfoils - all the same - but with different flap designs with an ingenious way of varying the angle of flap deployment. All measurements were taken with all airfoils at the same angle of attack. This kid was on a team that qualified for the internationals in a robotics competition. Grandpas just like to spoil them!...The younger should be an exceptional VFR pilot.......eyes outside 100% of the time - first thing she got rid of was the headset:D

This is my 3 year old grandson in my Thorp... hasn't had a ride in it yet, but he flies a lot with his daddy in his Grumman Cheetah. My 19 year old grandson has flown with me since he was about that age.
That is something I will never have the honor of doing. My daughter will never have any children. :mad:
