Mine is a GT wood prop 62x39 according to their numbers. I average 800-1000 fpm climb. More if it's cold out. Cruise is 98 mph and I usually cruise 2950-3000 rpm. I would like to get a Prince propeller.
Hey Mike, Thanks for the response! It's good to hear you have had a good experience with the Rotec heads. I am looking into installing on my jabiru. I have a Sensenich wood prop 62x44 that seems to give me a good all around performance. What is your climb rate and cruise speed? Dan
Hey WisDan, What size prop are you turning?
They are working great. I'm in the middle of my condition inspection right now. It's been to cold to finish it. I have had no problems at all with the heads. I have never had to re-torque the heads and never had to re-adjust the valve lash (I have a solid lifter 2200). I'm not quite sure of the weight difference. The heads themselves weigh slightly less that the original heads but of course had to add the weight of the radiator(I used a rotax 912 radiator), Rotecs water pump, I installed a thermostat housing and thermostat and associated plumbing. I use about 3 quarts of coolant, maybe slightly more. My CG is still well within limits no matter how I load it. I have just over 100 hrs on my heads. I run 91 octane non-ethanol auto fuel. Head temps(water temp) runs about 205 F on hot days in cruise and on the thermostat at 180 F when it starts cooling off out. Let me know if you need anything else, pics, etc.
Hi Mike , How are the Rotec heads working for you? Any info you can give me would be great as I am considering them for my 2200. What is the overall weight gain to convert? I have over 90 hours on my Jabiru and everything looks good so far but want to hear your thoughts. Also what kind of cost are we looking at? Hope all is well with you. Thanks Dan
Thanks for the reply and compliement. I flew the last two days, alittle cold but fun. Hope to keep in touch, Dan
Hi Wisdan, Good looking airplane. I am just finishing the annual inspection on mine. I'm ready to get it back in the air.
Hi Cubtractor, I also have a Jabiru 2200 on a Kitfox IV. You have a great looking airplane! If you want to discuss any engine issues let me know. My first flight was 7-13-2012 and it's running good, 45 hours so far. WISDAN Dan Gallow New London WI
